Ending an Event

At some point, you may decide that you no longer want to offer a particular Event option for your customers, so how do you go about getting rid of it? That will depend on the answer to a single question – Have there been any bookings for it yet?

If there are no bookings

In this case, you can simply delete the event from the Event Edit page. Since this option is only available for Events which have no bookings associated with them, it is mostly useful if you created the Event by mistake – or if it was created but never enabled. The process of deleting an Event cannot be undone.

If there are bookings

In this case, the delete button will not be available to you – an Event which has bookings cannot be completely removed, it has to remain in the system so that the historical data related to it can still be viewed (past orders, for example).

To stop an Event in this situation, simply go to the Event Edit page and set the Event Status to “Inactive” – this will prevent any new bookings, and stop the event from appearing on the front end of your site. The event will still be visible on the back end, allowing you to view old orders, etc.

Any bookings which have been made for the event which are in the future will -not- be cancelled by doing this. Those bookings will remain active unless they are manually cancelled.
